ABSTRACT
A web-based participatory mapping platform collects documents as well as archives and visualises environmental issues. It moreover enables affected communities to contribute stories, texts and reports. Collecting and connecting activist groups and local knowledge aims at generating further exchange and solidarity amongst the people affected negatively by the extraction of minerals. Providing a framework for citizen journalism to enable those groups to create a collective narrative on counter activities.
On the map, environmental features are categorised and visualised according to involved actors, environmental, social and economic impacts and raw materials. Interested individuals are invited to participate and develop examples of data-based storytelling and an archive for situated-knowledges concerning big-scale mining.

The images reflect on the effects which excessive theorisation and continuous marketisation of urban space could have and propose a critical reflection on these processes.
